In addition to that, this study searches the influence of Western culture on the novel characters like: Mostafa Said, the narrator, and Hosna bent Mahmoud benefiting from Homi Bhabha's concept of 'Hybridity'. The present study starts first with a historical introduction of "post-Colonial Theory" and its important concepts. Then, a comparison between the novel and Joseph Conrad's novel Heart of Darkness takes place. After that, the concepts of 'Orientalism', 'Occidentalism', and 'hybridity' are considered as my framework to analyze the novel's characters.
