This work is based on the perspective of postmodernism of history. This is reflected through the analysis of a variant of the historical novel that combines fiction, history and metafiction and that Linda Hutcheon, in her book A Poetics of Postmodernism: History, Theory, Fiction (1988), gives the name of Historiographical Metafiction. We apply these concepts to the study of Another Damned Novel about the Civil War of Isaac Rosa (2007). We focus on the historiographic intention of this novel, its metafictional techniques and its parodic mechanisms. Through these strategies, the novel deconstructs myths about the Civil War, offers a new way of reading the past, and presents the vision of those marginalized by history which opposes the hegemonic official ideology.
