The process of rewriting the Arab version of Divorce Islamic Style by Amara Lakhous. A comparative reading

In this study our aim is to make a comparative reading between the two versions, Italian and Arabic, of the third novel of the Italian-Algerian writer Amara Lakhous, Divorce Islamic Style, in which the concept of rewriting was elaborated, in order to understand what the transition, from one text to another, entailed; besides the strategies and the poetics of the self-translator in manipulating the text both linguistically and stylistically.
This involves a process of rewriting and not a simple self-translation since it favors the author's freedom the gives him the ability to erase the boundaries between translation and re-elaboration of his novel.
Lakhous’s inversion between source and target language in the writing of the original text certainly demonstrates the author's determination to venture into the Italian language and to reiterate that the dialogue between languages and cultures is an essential factor that builds the cornerstone of his narrative.
