Abstract

We are facing an epochal turning point born from the spread of Covid-19 which has changed all fields of life and even the lexicon of the Italian language. This lexical change is a subject of study by the (Accademia della Crusca) which has approved the use of a large number of neologisms, borrowings and acronyms used by the press. In addition, this change prompted the editorial staff of the (Treccani portal), in collaboration with the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS), to compose a brief dictionary containing some necessary terms frequently used by the press and in government declarations, which prompted me to focus on a part of this lexical change. The corpus of this article is made up of news from two Italian newspapers:
La Repubblica and Il Fatto quotidiano
