The COVID-19 pandemic has had a major impact on people around the world. The language also is being affected by this pandemic through inventing new words and terms with new meanings related to the Coronavirus and its impact on people’s psychological lives. This paper focuses on the neologisms with the first term (Corona) in the German language, especially those words with emotional connotations such as (Corona-Fear, Corona-Depression, etc.). This paper aims to analyze the emotional connotations according to different types of neologisms in the German language in order to find the differences between the denotations and the emotional connotations of these words and also to investigate the impact of the word (Corona) on combining new words with negative or positive emotional effects. This analysis is based on a list of collected Corona-Neologisms from the dictionary of the Leibniz Institute for the German Language.
