Abstract

In this paper, we will opt for analyzing Spatio-temporal indices in Le Grand Meaulnes by Alain Fournier. We will highlight the hybrid aspect that emanates from the entanglement of places and temporality, sometimes real, sometimes imaginary in the novel. Inspired in large part by the author's life, the novel's events are told by a hero-narrator who testifies to the authenticity of the facts narrated. Despite the abundance of Spatio-temporal indices in the corpus studied, the reader feels lost in this dreamlike universe characterized by the permanent alternation between reality and fiction. This work blends reality and wanders through the adventures of the eponymous hero. We will prove, in our study, that this mixture between reality and phantasmagoria is a means that allows the novelist to escape the shocking reality and to express the nostalgia of his happy childhood embodied by his strange adventure at the mysterious castle.
