Abstract

The novelistic vision of Bahaa Taher’s alienated character is at its utmost in this novel, where he cleverly handles different types of alienation surrounding the character whether in Egypt or abroad.
The paper is divided into an introduction, six axes and, a conclusion which summarizes the most important findings. The introduction deals with the concept of ‘alienation’, its relation to the novel, and alienation in contemporary novel. As for the axes of study, the first axis is entitled ‘Alienation Thresholds’, the second ‘Estrangement within Estrangement’, the third ‘Self-Alienation’, the fourth ‘Time Alienation’, the fifth ‘Marginalization’, and the sixth ‘Out of Estrangement and Alienation’
