Abstract

In the issue figurative expressions are considered as speech means of influence on the public in speeches of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. The president uses lexical means of expressiveness (metaphors, comparisons, hyperbolas, epithets, etc.) and syntactic (repetitions, series of homogeneous terms, parcellations, syntactic parallelism, false sentences, interrogative constructions, etc.), realizing the significance of the expressive word as a means of political influence on Public.
