This research proposes a non-conformist journey centered around “questioning”. It will examine the oratorical interrogations in The Litigants from a purely rhetorical angle. This sole comedy by Racine which features all the specificities of the genre did not, however, have the expected success. This work will therefore attempt to bring elements of response to the causes of this mitigated failure, to finally question this atrocious civilizational feature that constituted the "Question", a synonym for "Torture" under the Old Regime and its mention in the last scene.
