The Methods of Translating Paraphrases in Accident News from Russian into Arabic

Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the main methods and difficulties of translating paraphrases from Russian into Arabic and describing ways to solve the problems of their translation. The study is mainly based on the contextual and comparative analysis of the material of the texts of the section "incidents" in Russian newspapers. The analyzed units are divided into three groups: 1) equivalents; 2) analogues and 3) non-equivalents. It is concluded that equivalent paraphrases have the largest percentage. Non-equivalent expressions with national-cultural connotations constituted particular difficulties. To solve their translation, the methods of transliteration, tracing, and descriptive translation were used.
