Abstract

The main objective of this study is to analyze the features of the Refugee in Silence of the Choir 2017, a novel by the writer Mohamed Mbougar Sarr according to the Ethnocratic Literary Criticism Approach of Marie Scarpa (2013) and inspired by the ethnocritical method of Jean Marie Privat.
To properly analyze the features of the Refugee, torn between his aspiration and the atrocious reality; this study reports on “Contemporary Tragedies” where we are analyzing the route traveled by the refugees, while studying the local culture of the text. On the other hand, we focus our attention on the “Problem of integration in the host country”, issue related to the cultural and social shock due to the meeting between the two camps of the text. The "Impact of the conflict between two heterogeneous symbolic universes" reveals, finally, the cultural traits and their impacts on identity, regional, social, and individual construction.
