Phraseology in Los santos inocentes by Miguel Delibes between Dictionaries and Creativity

Abstract

In the present work we continue investigating aspects related to the phraseology of Miguel Delibes not treated before in phraseological studies. We focus on the phraseological units (PUs) of Los santos inocentes [The Innocent Saints]. First of all, this novel has been chosen because of the high frequency of use of the PUs in it; and, secondly, for its oral-based language that reflects the phraseological richness of Delibes. Our main objectives are: 1. to verify the inclusion or not of the PUs of the novel in a representative group of dictionaries and to analyze the different records of these units; and 2. to study the different aspects related to the phraseological creativity of Delibes. For the exhaustive analysis of all this information, we have designed a database using the Microsoft Access 2010 software. At the end, the study includes a glossary of all the PUs extracted through the database.
