Abstract

The impact of technology on the French language is very crucial because new technologies have brought many changes in syntax, grammar, vocabulary and the way we communicate. For example, the massive use of social media, texting and email has led to the emergence of new words, new expressions and new abbreviations. This research examined how new communication technologies, such as social media, texting, emojis, emoticons and machine translation applications, have influenced human language and communication. We presented some examples of changes in syntax, vocabulary, grammar and communication standards as technologies evolve.
The widespread use of communication platforms and networks, such as Facebook, has led to faster and more formal communications. Moreover, social networking sites have introduced new forms of visual communication, such as stories and live videos, and finally, the research sample of the TV5MONDE plus channel platform and the website of the newspaper le Figaro revealed how technological progress has affected the development of French communication via the Internet
