Abstract

This paper, entitled “Pillars and Elements of Context and their Impact on Eliminating Ambiguity. The Poetry of ‘Urwa ibn ʼUdhaynah as a Model: Analytical Study”, is structured with an introduction, a preface and two main sections. The introduction explores the research methodology, outlines its key areas, reviews prior studies, and the justification for its selection. The preface provides an overview of the poet ‘Urwa ibn ʼUdhaynah, his poetry, and his prominence among his contemporaries. The subsequent sections address the context, its various forms, and foundational elements, followed by an exploration of the term ‘ambiguity’ as presented in the paper title. The study is organized into two primary axes: the first focuses on the linguistic context, detailing its concepts and methods, and examining the role each plays in mitigating ambiguity. The second axis delves into the non-linguistic context, addressing the situational context. The study explores the cultural context, examining how Arab culture influenced the poet, its impact on his work, and how context aids in interpreting and elucidating his verses. The study then addresses the physical context, followed by the temporal context. Finally, the research concludes with a summary of the key findings.
