Arabic Translation and Dissemination of Modern and Contemporary Chinese Literature: Reality, Challenges and Solutions

Abstract

Based on investigating the translation and dissemination of modern and contemporary Chinese literature in the Arab world, this article analyzes challenges in the process and explores reasons behind them, to put forward suggestions for promoting Chinese literature to Arab countries. The results indicate that the translation and dissemination of modern and contemporary Chinese literature in the Arab world cannot be separated from political support, the efforts of translators, and the contribution of publishers. Despite the growing number of the Arabic translation of Chinese literature, there are still challenges such as shortage of high-quality translators and insufficient attention from Arab readers. Therefore, we should cultivate more high-quality translators by deepening educational cooperation between China and Arab countries and providing more communication platforms and financial support for translators, promote the dissemination of modern and contemporary Chinese literature by deepening China-Arab publishing cooperation, establish reader feedback mechanism, and encourage publishing literary reviews.
