Abstract

There is a specific class of words in Arabic, which contains every word that carries two opposite meanings. This class has been given the name «Ad’dad». or «antonyms» or «opposites» when The Quran has been translated into English. Translators faced great difficulty in translating these words from Arabic to English; because English did not know this type of linguistic phenomenon. For this reason, the translators' treatment differed with these words; they translated a lexical translation sometimes and neglected the context of the text Many times. This research highlights this phenomenon.
